The last Train from Newport,

 40th Anniversary 1971-2011 on the 23rd January 2011

We followed the railway track as much as possible on our way past Whippingham Station, which  is now a private home.

It is close to Palmers Brook, miles away from Whippingham!

When we arrived at Wootton Railway station we caught the steam train W24 Calbourne to Havenstreet station.

This was the same train that 40 years ago transported some of the rolling stock to Havenstreet station to start the present    IoW Steam Railway.

The walk of 200+ people started from very close to the location where Newport Railway station was located until 1966.
